What's UnionPay App?

It is a new experience of payment. Scan the QR code and pay by using the UnionPay App with your HSBC Pulse UnionPay Credit Card.

It's safe and simple. Simply download the UnionPay App from the iOS or Android app store, and add your HSBC Pulse UnionPay Credit Card. Your card information will not be stored on the device and there is no need to provide your card information when you pay.

Meanwhile, you can also enjoy all the privileges from HSBC and the UnionPay QR code scanning payment service.

How to add card?

Step 1

Once you have downloaded the app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you can follow the on-screen instructions to register a new UnionPay App account.

Step 2

Once a new UnionPay App account has been created, follow the user instruction or Select "Card Management" and Tap on 'Add card".

Step 3

You can either manually input your credit card information, including credit card number, card expiry date and CVN2, or simply scan the card with your mobile camera. A one-time password will be sent to your registered mobile for verification. Please make sure your mobile number matches with the one you have previously registered at HSBC.

If this is the first time you're using UnionPay App, you will also need to set up a "Payment PIN" for you to complete registration.

How to pay?

For Merchant Presented Mode merchants

Step 1

Let the cashier know you would like to pay by UnionPay QR Code and open the UnionPay App.

Step 2

To make a payment, you can select "Scan" from the home screen to activate the scan function.

Step 3

Scan the merchant's QR Code and enter Payment PIN.

(Note: One-time-Password will also be requested for high value merchant presented mode transactions – Larger than RMB1,000 or HKD equivalent).

For Consumer Presented Mode merchants

Step 1

Let the cashier know you would like to pay by UnionPay QR Code and open the UnionPay App.

Step 2

To make a payment, you can select “Payment Code” to generate a UnionPay QR Code.

Step 3

Get your Payment QR Code generated on your UnionPay App scanned by the merchant.

(Note: Payment PIN will be requested for high value consumer presented mode transaction – Larger than RMB300 or HKD equivalent by default).
